Central Vacuum Won’t Turn Off?
Here’s What You Should Do

When a central vacuum power unit continues to run without a hose plugged into an inlet valve, it is usually due to a short that is occurring within the system. If you find yourself having this problem with your Homewave Central Vacuum System, unplug the power unit from the power outlet to stop your central vacuum system from operating, then proceed with the steps below to identify where the problem is and what to do about it.

  1. Before performing your central vacuum troubleshooting, make sure that the unit is set in AUTO MODE and that no hose is currently plugged into an inlet valve.

  2. Unplug the low voltage wire from the side of the power unit.

    a. If the unit still runs after unplugging the low voltage wire, the relay on the pc board is broken and all of it needs to be replaced.

    b. If the unit switches off after unplugging the low voltage wire, there is a shorted or pinched low volt wire in the owner’s system. Contact your authorized Homewave dealer or installer and have them investigate this issue so that you will know if a central vacuum repair is needed.

Our professional central vacuum technicians have years of experience in central vacuum service, so rest assured that they will be happy and obliged to assist you in any way possible.
